LibKey Nomad is now in your browser - taking the hassle out of accessing journal articles

Are you looking for faster, easier access to full-text journal articles when you’re searching the web? The LibKey Nomad browser extension provides just that and has been added to all NHFT versions of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge (and we are working on doing the same for staff at Northampton General Hospital).

LibKey Nomad makes thousands of journal articles available to you in just one click, by providing direct links to open access content and journals that the Library Service subscribes to when you’re searching a range of sites including PubMed, Google Scholar, Wikipedia and more. It also works on journal publisher sites.

You will see this appearing on links to scholarly research on a wide variety of web sites.

On sites such as PubMed, LibKey Nomad will automatically add links to the journal article where it is available, as below.

Click on these links to access the full text, or, where it’s not available, it will put you in touch with Library Services so we can request the article for you.

You can also install LibKey Nomad at home or on any other computer as it is available for most major browsers including Chrome, Edge and Firefox and takes just seconds to install. Just follow this link: https://thirdiron.com/downloadnomad/ then click on “Get LibKey Nomad Now”, follow the on-screen instructions to choose your browser and your Trust.

Please note: An OpenAthens login will be required to access some of the content – if you don't have an account you can register here.

If you have any questions about LibKey Nomad, OpenAthens, accessing journals (or anything else library-related), please get in touch with one of the libraries.
