Richmond Library book sale starts 1st of February

We are holding a sale of books recently withdrawn from our stock, starting at 9 am on Monday the 1st of February at the Richmond Library.

On offer will be a variety of titles, including previous editions of textbooks as well as other items covering lots of different subjects and disciplines, as well as some fiction.

Costing no more than £1, you could find yourself a real bargain, but they do tend to sell quickly so we advise you to get here early in the week for maximum choice.

NHFT virtual book club - our next read is Convenience Store Woman

Following our visit to a hive in The Bees, we are off to contemporary Japan for our next read in the bestselling (and winner of the Akutagawa Prize)  Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata.

At school and university, people find Keiko odd, and her family worries she will never fit in. To make them happy, Keiko takes a job at a newly opened convenience store where she finds peace and purpose in simple daily tasks.

But in Keiko's circle it just won't do for an unmarried woman to spend her time stacking shelves and ordering green tea. As the pressure to find a new job - or worse, a husband - increases, Keiko is forced to take desperate action.

'Exhilaratingly weird and funny, unsettling and totally unpredictable' Sally Rooney

The next meeting will be Thursday the 24th of February at 7pm via MS Teams where we will be discussing the novel. You can find the link via the Events Calendar on the Staff Room.

Hope to see you there.
