UpToDate registration / drop in event for NGH staff Thursday 5th September

You may be aware that Northampton General Hospital has a subscription to UpToDate, which provides quick and easy access to synthesised evidence-based information on thousands of clinical topics and is an invaluable resource for all health professionals.

Staff can access UpToDate through a link on the front page of the intranet (without the need to log in) or online via OpenAthens. You can also access it via the UpToDate app (described as "one of the best apps in publishing" by EContent Magazine).

The Trust is holding a registration event on Thursday the 5th of September in the Cybercafe on Hospital Street from 10 - 1 pm.

Come along and get registered with UpToDate so you can use the app (available for iOS (Apple) or Android devices). You will also have the opportunity to put any any questions you may have about UpToDate or the app to Rob from the UpToDate team.

On approvals - come book shopping with us

We want to be sure that the books we buy are the books you actually need to support your work and learning.
We review publisher's catalogues, scan reading lists and peruse different web sites, but what we like best is when you tell us what you need.

That is where our books on approval scheme comes in.

Every two months our supplier sends us a selection of new publications on relevant health topics which are available for you to review and suggest titles for us to purchase (or sometimes, not to purchase!).

Our current selections will be available at the Berrywood and Richmond libraries until Friday the 23rd of August. Topics covered include:
  • Anatomy and biology
  • Autism
  • Anaesthesiology
  • Medicine
  • Mental health, psychiatry and psychology
  • Nursing and midwifery
  • Research
  • Surgery
  • And many more...
Of course we are always happy to have recommendations for new stock on any health related topic.

You can also find a list of titles we have recently purchased (including previous On Approvals) on our web site and all of our stock via the library catalogue.
